Abingdon & Witney College is an award-winning general college of Further Education with specialist land-based status and one of the highest proportion of high needs students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities of all the FE colleges in the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the college’s Special Educational Needs and Disability support services across the college, ensuring that students with additional needs receive the best possible support and achieve their full potential, and that the college upholds its duties under the SEND Code of Practice 2015.

The role reports into the Vice Principal Student Engagement and will be part of the College Leadership Team. You will be based in Abingdon but will need to travel to other campuses as and when required, or to external meetings with our partners.

The successful candidate will be an experienced manager with significant experience of working with young people with a range of SEND in an educational environment, developing provision to meet their needs and working within the SEND Code of Practice.

A highly effective communicator, emotionally intelligent and resilient they will be competent to lead a large team of staff supporting students across all areas of the college. They will be a confident and passionate in the subject of SEND, and able to quickly take on new information and build relationships with colleagues which enable them to effect change.

The key to making this role a success will be the ability of the successful candidate to communicate their vision and lead the development of support for learners across the organisation, developing support and training to ensure that all of our provision is truly inclusive.
