Salary: Salary up to £55k
Location: Ashley Down and Parkway College sites will be the main base but travel to the all 4 campuses with be expected as well as travel within the wider Bristol area.
About the Role:
City of Bristol College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and proactive Assistant Director of Apprenticeships and Employer Based Training. Someone who has the technical knowledge and proven experience of managing the operational elements of delivering apprenticeships and employer based training. The role will also cover our subcontracting arrangements and our Trade Union training provision.
You will be accountable to the Vice Principal, Curriculum and Quality for the implementation of a curriculum delivery strategy for apprenticeships and our College employer-based training; chiefly delivered through workplace assessment and learning, but also through classroom-based learning.
You will work closely with the Vice Principal Finance and Professional Services and the College’s business development team in fostering a culture of high quality customer service, flexibility and responsiveness, in line with the College’s growth strategy for employer-based provision.
You will line manage the Heads of Department of Engineering, Motor Vehicle, Construction, Business, Professional, Creative and Leisure and employer based Trade Union qualifications.
The post-holder will support the Vice Principal Curriculum and Quality in the delivery of all relevant targets, in line with the agreed curriculum plan, including work-based provision across Business, Professional, Creative and Leisure sectors, and classroom based and work based provision in Engineering, Motor Vehicle, Construction and subcontractors. This position also oversees our employer based TUC offer across the South West.
You will take lead accountability for the implementation of a quality improvement strategy for apprenticeships and employer-based training across FE and HE provision across their remit.
You will provide college-wide leadership on curriculum and quality matters for apprenticeships and CoBC employer-based learning and training in partnership with the Assistant Director for Quality and Standards, and Assistant Principal FE&HE.
This is a significant leadership and management post as such you will be expected to build and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders, at all levels, internally and externally, as well as other members of College staff and students.

Our new state of the art construction centre is due to open in 2021. It will offer training in construction skills to around 850 learners over the first three years, through Higher Apprenticeships and more traditional learning routes, providing much-needed skilled workers for the city and wider region. The centre will provide a brand-new, 2500m2 training facility at the South Bristol Skills Academy site.
