Executive Director Finance & Funding – Calderdale College
£75,000 - £80,000 (for an exceptional candidate) plus substantial pension and benefits

Are you a people-focused Finance Director able to balance Risk and Opportunity in your stride? If so, then read further…

Set in one of the most attractive parts of the UK, Calderdale College has an excellent reputation for delivering first class education, skills and training to its thousands of students and employers. We have a clear strategy and vision and to take advantage of some great opportunities the college has expanded its senior team and established this new role, to ensure that we remain focused on sustaining our strong financial health, whilst providing cross-college support to achieve an Outstanding grade at our next Ofsted Inspection.

As the College’s senior finance professional, you will focus on developing our financial and MIS systems and ensuring that all stakeholders are presented with accurate historical, current and future information that will support good decision making and governance. As well as strategically managing our £22 million Income and Expenditure through established Finance and MIS team(s) you will use your experience to work as part of many teams as a strategic business partner focused on delivering growth across a range of programmes. Stakeholder reputation is critical, and you will lead on relationships with the college’s bank, auditor(s) and funders to uphold this.

You may have gained previous experience in the Further Education sector but if not you will be able to demonstrate that you can hit the ground running whilst working closely with your experienced Finance and MIS Managers to sustain our stability. Knowledge of FE funding is important and needs to be learned quickly, with support if not already held.

No matter what your previous experience (that may be from another relevant sector or commerce), it must include a strong commercial acumen as there are many demands on our resources, so we live in a culture of getting best value for money, taking sound commercial decisions and being imaginative and creative with the resources that we have.

This role will appeal to an ambitious forward-thinking individual who is customer focused and wants to join a team of mutually motivated people determined to lead Calderdale College to be one of the very best in the Country. You may be an experienced Finance Director or an exceptional Financial Controller / Manager ready to use your CCAB qualification and experience to its max.

If the above describes you then we really want to meet you. We have assembled a strong Leadership Team and are supported and challenged in equal measure by a committed Board of Governors, but in a constructive way. As well as your experience gained, team fit will be essential, and in return we offer you a competitive salary with some excellent pension and annual leave benefits but above all else a unique opportunity to play a key part in our future success in one of the most attractive regions to live in the UK.
