The Sports, Outdoor Education and Public Service department is an ambitious, forward-thinking department that is renowned nationally for outstanding success. In 2016, the Sport provision was awarded an AoC Beacon Award, followed by our apprenticeship delivery being shortlisted for the Times Educational Supplement Apprenticeship Programme of the year in 2018. Since the merger of Bridgwater College and Somerset College in 2016, outcomes for all students have improved year-on-year and the Ofsted inspection in 2019 highlighted the department several times of where it exemplified outstanding practice. In the most recent College Self-Assessment Report – the department is graded Outstanding for Apprenticeships, Adult Education and Education programmes for Young People.

This is an exciting time to join a high-performing department and we are seeking a proactive, dynamic and experienced practitioner to join the department management team and continue to relentlessly pursue the highest standards for our students. We are passionate about teaching, learning and assessment and as such, critical to this post, the post-holder will need to be an excellent classroom practitioner, with the ability to develop and lead teaching & learning initiatives.

This post will be based at our Bridgwater Campus, specifically overseeing education programmes for young people and adult curriculum that takes part on the campus. The department itself offers sport programmes from L1, through to our new BSc (Hons) Degree in Applied Sports Science and Coaching. Your remit will primarily focus on Level 1 to 3 students, however through excellent management you will work closely with other Curriculum Managers responsible for Higher Education and Apprenticeships to ensure outstanding progression opportunities for students.
