Do you want to spend the next two years researching and campaigning to reduce preventable exclusions and improve alternative provision (AP)?

At the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) we’re doing just that, and we’re looking for one final person for our project team. We already have a data analyst, a researcher and team lead, and now we’re looking for a senior researcher with a background in education research and/or working in schools or AP.

We’re looking for someone who can problem-solve in a strategic, political way, drawing on a real-world understanding of the circumstances that lead to school exclusions. Leading on the AP improvement work, you will need to identify problems on the ground, collaborate on research to more accurately determine the local and national picture, and co-construct solutions to improve provision nationally.

You will work closely with several of our partner organisations, including The Difference and Right to Succeed, in researching how to measure and improve quality in AP, and develop a strategy around unregistered provision. CSJ is the hub organisation for a partnership called IntegratED, along with organisations such as Teach First, Ambition Institute, Education Datalab, Education Policy Institute, PRUsAP, Race on the Agenda, IntoUniversity, Anna Freud Centre, Whole Education, Relationships Foundation, Social Finance, Jearni, Inspiration Trust, and Just for Kids Law.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Developing instruments for primary research.
• Researching and analysing statistics.
• Drafting policy reports, briefing notes, internal memos, presentations, emails to external parties.
• Compiling freedom of information requests/other requests for access to information.
• Managing working relationships with external partners and other key stakeholders.
• Helping to develop evidence-based public policy solutions to support programme goals.
