The Trustees of the Athelstan Trust wish to appoint an excellent teacher and school leader to the post of Headteacher at The Dean Academy from September 2020.
The Athelstan Trust is a Multi-Academy Trust formed in 2015 consisting of three secondary Schools (Malmesbury School, Bradon Forest School and The Dean Academy) in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire with another approved to join in April 2020. All our schools share a deep commitment to delivering an excellent comprehensive education.
The Dean Academy is an 11-16 school with approximately 600 students on roll in Lydney on the edge of the beautiful Forest of Dean. The school has a hardworking and committed staff and wonderful students. Since joining the Trust, the Dean Academy has changed and improved significantly, moving out of Special Measures. In November 2017, Ofsted judged the effectiveness of leadership and management as good. “Senior leaders continually focus on improving the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, and this has led to significant improvement in pupils’ behaviour and in pupils’ outcomes. Senior leaders form a cohesive team.”
The Trust provides a supportive team that works together to raise standards with central support specialists covering IT, Finance, SEND, Computing, Art and (from September) English and Maths. Staff at all levels can work across more than one school and benefit from a range of secondment opportunities. This is an exciting time for a talented and ambitious school leader to join our growing Trust.
At the Dean Academy our vision is based on enjoyment, achievement and community and we ask all members of our community to be responsible, respectful and ready.
Closing Date: 12 noon on Tuesday 21st January 2020 with interviews on 4th & 5th February 2020.
