A creative and innovative leader in the NZ tertiary sector, Ara Institute of Canterbury is a vibrant, progressive, government-funded tertiary institute providing world-class, tertiary-level education throughout the Canterbury and Waitaki region. Ara was created in 2016 when education providers CPIT and Aoraki Polytechnic merged, bringing together two well-established organisations and over 200 years of collective experience and success.

Reporting to the Chief Executive and as a member of the executive leadership team (Te Kāhui Manukura), this position will have shared responsibility for setting strategic development, deploying resource and developing capability across the organisation, as well as within the portfolio.

Professionalism and pragmatism will be hallmarks of the executive team, with its focus being on impact and delivery. As a Deputy Chief Executive, you will be a well-qualified expert in your respective field and will revel in working in a place of discovery and making a difference.

About the Role

You will lead the provision of ‘best in class’ services for customer experience and engagement, ultimately ensuring that all Ara services within the portfolio provide outcomes that significantly improve student recruitment and retention; align Ara with the new national body requirements, key stakeholders including business, industry, schools; and develop sustainable international partnerships that support internationalisation and grow revenue.

We are seeking an experienced individual with a proven track record in leading large, complex customer experience functions whilst successfully driving a customer-centric culture across the organisation.
