Headteacher, Spalding Parish Church of England Day School Advert

Start date: January 2020
Location: Lincoln

It is a defining moment for Spalding Parish Church of England Day School. In autumn 2019 this large and growing primary school will become part of the Lincoln Anglican Academy Trust (LAAT).

LAAT is a family of 16 schools brought together by a shared vision to improve the life chances of all our children through excellence, exploration, encouragement within a distinct Christian ethos. Established as a multi-academy trust by the Diocese of Lincoln in December 2013, we’re a unique organisation that celebrates the individuality of every school whilst promoting an uncompromising belief in the power of collaboration and distinct Christian ethos to support all our c2600 pupils be the best they can be.

In joining the Trust, Spalding Parish will receive significant investment in terms of capacity and support, to complement the substantial capital investment and modernisation it has received in recent years as it grew from a two to a three-form entry school. It is help and expertise that is much welcomed, against the backdrop of an inadequate inspection judgement in November 2018. The entire team have worked with great commitment and drive to move the school forward. We now need a substantive Headteacher who can build on this good work and realise our true potential.

Far from a blank canvas, Spalding Parish has much to admire and champion. First and foremost – its community, which is impassioned in its will for the school to move positively forward at pace. They are joined by a talented staff body which is primed for development and enthusiastic children that make even the most challenging of days worth it. It is for these reasons that LAAT was compelled to have the school join the Trust. And, as a locally based Trust with a tangible and demonstrable track record school improvement, we are well placed to provide the support needed for rapid and sustained improvement.

We are looking for an ambitious and visible leader who will not be daunted by the challenges ahead and can motivate and inspire in equal measure. You’ll undoubtedly have a proven track record of school improvement, ideally within a similar challenging context, but above all you’ll be willing to embrace new ideas and work collaboratively within our local hub and wider family of schools to realise sustainable, positive change for the children and families we serve.

We welcome applications from candidates of all faiths and none, although you must be able to convey an understanding and appreciation of the deep and powerful values we hold as a faith trust.

You will:
• Have a deep understanding of what makes a great school and possess the skills and personal character required to develop this.
• Demonstrate evidence of effective leadership at a whole school level.
• Be an exceptional practitioner. As a leader of teaching, you will know what great learning looks like in the classroom and how to nurture it.
• Be excited by, and committed to, supporting practices that will drive improved outcomes both in the school, the regional hub and across the wider trust.

In return, we offer a truly career-defining opportunity to join a successful team ready to provide you with the capacity and resources needed to lead transformational change.

It is a unique opportunity that will have a lasting legacy.
