We have a new and exciting role for a Programme Manager to work in our Education Programmes and Projects team.

Key areas of responsibility:
Lead delivery of project management expertise to WEA`s Education contracts and projects, in close collaboration with the Education contract delivery team, HR and Finance.

The post holder will manage the education project management team, allocating resource as required to new and existing contract delivery teams and at project initiation stage.

This will include working closely with the business development team, education delivery managers and other colleagues to ensure thorough and appropriate project scoping, including assessment of requirements for project management, project configuration and set up in line with funder and delivery requirements, and to ensure successful delivery of targets and outcomes within time, budget, scope and quality.

The post holder will advise the organisation on resource requirements to support project management in education

About you:
Degree in a relevant discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience

Experience of managing and allocating significant people and money resources across a number of complex and conflicting education portfolio of projects

Experience of strategic leadership and stakeholder management in a large diverse organisation, at all levels in an organisation up to Board level

Experienced in managing and resolution of conflict, inter-dependencies, competing priorities, risks and issues

Experience in critically assessing delivery plans and designing and establishing monitoring, intervention and improvement frameworks and plans

Experienced in gathering and understanding business objectives and requirements and translating these into an appropriate programme of work

Experienced in all stages of programme and projects governance including stage gate reviews

Experience of managing a pool of project managers and of managing programme support using a business partner model

Experience of managing education delivery targets and funder requirements

Experienced in developing effective implementation and communication strategies and plans

Experience of working in ambiguous and/or emergent environments and responding to changing / new situations

Experienced in managing £multi-million budgets

Ability to work well under pressure, prioritise a heavy workload and work both reactively and pro-actively

Good and accurate ICT skills (word processing, spreadsheets, database and email) and literate in MS Office applications

Knowledge of programme / portfolio and project management best practice approach and tools

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Influencing and negotiation skills

High level prioritisation and organisation skills

Conflict, risk and issue, dependency and intervention management skills

Knowledge of the Association and/or work in the voluntary/education sector

Knowledge of or experience in the field of adult education

Education delivery experience
