We are looking for a Visual Communications tutor to join the teaching team in the Art and Design Department at WMC. The post will include teaching on the Foundation Diploma Visual Arts pathway, as well as some teaching on non-accredited courses in visual communications subjects. Depending on learner recruitment these include: Card making, Collage, Pet Portraiture, and Illustration.
For the Foundation Diploma teaching you will be working with an experienced team of tutors to deliver a specialist experience to learners on the Visual Arts Pathway. Knowledge of illustration, graphics, animation and Adobe programmes will be useful. You will also provide pastoral and progression advice to the learners and support them in the production of their specialist portfolios. This year-long course is an opportunity to develop an exciting and innovative curriculum using the UALab qualification.
The non-accredited courses are delivered using RARPA assessment and, as the tutor, you will have the opportunity to develop your own curriculum and learning outcomes. The courses are designed to give our learners the opportunity to experience a range of techniques and processes while extending their creative and professional skills base. The college has a number of internal exhibitions and these can be used to create briefs or projects for the courses, and you are also encouraged to use you own experience and expertise to inform the curriculum and the development of the course throughout the academic year.
Ideally, applicants will have experience of teaching accredited and non-accredited provision but we are also interested in those who have significant industry experience and are looking to begin sharing their skills.
