New City College is the dynamic group of further education colleges in East London which comprises Tower Hamlets College, Hackney Community College and Redbridge College. Our science department was graded Good by Ofsted. We offer a wide range of science courses for adults and young people including GCSE and Access courses for adults, and A level Physics, Biology and Chemistry.
0.88 Science Technician
£22,126 per annum (full time equivalent salary)
We are looking for a technically qualified and experienced person to provide an effective and efficient technical service to science teaching.
You will prepare apparatus, materials and solutions and set up and check equipment and apparatus for use in practical classes, assessment and exams. You need to be a team player, well organised, capable of multi-tasking and possess a full range of science technician skills. Good chemistry knowledge would be preferred.
The Science Department is accommodated in facilities including six laboratories, two preparation rooms and a learning centre. Our students are a balance of young people and adults studying GCSE, AS and A2 Science subjects, and vocational, cross disciplinary, applied science courses at levels 1, 2 and 3, including Access to HE courses. Results at all levels are good. We have an excellent record of preparing students for scientific and medical careers. The technician support provided by for the practical element of courses is good (Ofsted, May 2012).
