UCEM Academic Facilitator x 2

Based central Reading, Berkshire

University College of Estate Management (UCEM) is the leading provider of supported online education for the Built Environment, with over 95 years’ experience of providing the highest quality learning opportunities. At any one time, we have over 3,500 students from more than 100 countries benefiting from our qualifications. UCEM helps to enhance Built Environment professional careers through our accredited property-related and construction programmes, offered at Postgraduate, Undergraduate and Apprenticeship levels.

The main purpose of your role will be to facilitate student learning in the Built Environment discipline areas working as part of our Learning and Teaching Enhancement (LATE) team. You will support the faculty programmes and modules by providing reactive first-line responses to student communication within our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), responding and signposting as appropriate within the specified time limits.

As a member of our LATE team you will work with course cohorts and individual students to facilitate students to be effective and independent distance learners. This will maximise student progression, achievement, completion and success. Some of the activities will include:
• Monitoring student communication channels and providing prompt first-line responses.
• Working with Module Leaders to follow up on actions flowing from student communications.
• Promoting and enhancing student performance, retention and success through facilitation activities.

A relevant academic qualification, to at least first-degree level, is an essential quality you must possess to succeed in this role. You must be able to provide relevant, demonstrable experience of working with students to support them as well as an understanding of current developments within professional, further or higher education in relevant fields. We would like you to have the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Having experience within a similar role is a desirable quality for this position along with a teaching qualification and/or HEA fellowship. Whilst it is not essential, having knowledge of issues surrounding online learning and an understanding of the importance of the student experience is a desirable trait for this role.

At UCEM we expect all our employees to demonstrate our values: Passion, Integrity, Excellence and Support.
