IQA Officer (Electrical & related)

Location: National Role, home based with travel

To deliver a robust internal verification service that fully meets JTL’s Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) requirements in the delivery of accredited electrical and related qualifications. To act as a subject matter expert (SME) for electrical and related courses, as part of a team of SMEs that support the Curriculum Manager (electrical & related courses) by providing technical advice and input.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Undertake assessment evidence sampling (interim and summative) for the assigned portfolio of assessors according to JTL’s IQA requirements. Utilise enabling IT systems e.g. Smart Assessor, as per specified guidance.

Provide accurate and timely reports on sampling to Curriculum Manager. Lead standardisation meetings of assigned assessors and actively participate in IQA Officer team standardisation meetings in support of the Curriculum Manager.

Support the Curriculum Manager in the preparation and participation of EQA visits.
Provide assistance to Regional Business Managers in the recruitment, selection and induction of new assessors as instructed by the Curriculum Manager.

Observe assessment activity of assigned assessors as per JTL’s IQA requirements and monitor the performance of allocated assessors and support the development of their skills as part of a programme of support aligned to the JTL Quality of TLA Strategy.

As per Curriculum Manager guidance, review and verify wider assessor duties e.g. pastoral relationship, safeguarding, health and safety etc. as part of the IQA of the ‘learner journey’. Monitor and report on achievement rates of apprentices, including reviewing progress and satisfaction levels of apprentices.
Ensure all assessment observed and assessment evidence sampled is fair and without prejudice according to JTL’s equal opportunity standards and expectations.

Assist with and follow the agreed procedure if disputes and appeals arise.
As part of a team of SMEs (IQA Officers) for electrical and related, support the Curriculum Manager by providing technical advice and input in activities such as teaching and learning resource development, awarding organisation liaison (technical), technical training to assessors, and partner engagement.

Essential Requirements:

Qualified Electrician, NVQ Level 3, recognised Apprenticeship or equivalent
OR

Maintenance Engineer qualification
Experienced IQA assessor
GCSE English A-C, 9-4, NVQ level 2, O’Level A-D or equivalent.
D32, D33 and/ or A1/TAQA or equivalent
D34 and/or V1/IQA or equivalent
Driving Licence and use of a car

Desirable:

Recognised Health & Safety qualification (IOSH Managing Safely)
Good IT skills
Working knowledge of the Building Services Industry
Proven on-the-job experience
