Technician in Electrical Installation – Poole–Full Time - Permanent - £17,400 per annum

We are looking for individuals with previous experience in the construction industry with strong knowledge of the electrical trade and health and safety processes.

The Construction Department
The Construction Department is based across two sites. The Fulcrum is located at Tower Park in Poole and the other is the main North Road Campus. The Fulcrum has two purpose built buildings which facilitate brick and wood occupations, for example boat building, site, shop, bench, fitted and furniture carpentry. The Fulcrum facilities also include two computer classrooms and students also have access to computer trollies. The North Road campus consists of Electrical, Paint and Decorating, Plastering and Plumbing. The facilities include separate workshops for each area to give the students a realistic approach to the workplace. The electrical workshops have dedicated bays of various finishes and fixed and mobile work/examination rigs. There are also designated classrooms with suitable visual aids to facilitate teaching and learning.
As a Technician of Electrical Installation you will undertake technician duties, generally in the centre’s workshops, stores and in other areas as directed, to assist lecturers and instructors in the delivery and maintenance of training programmes.
Technician activities will include: supporting the students; staff, lecturers to maintain a high standard of operation; check levels of stock and work with teaching staff; support lecturers ensuring H&S within the workshops and classrooms; facilitate learning by demonstrating good practice electrical skills. You will also be expected to take place in standardisation and moderation activates in line with Awarding Organisation and current industry best practise.
Additionally, this role will involve maintaining, cleaning and repairing apparatus, equipment and workshops to the standard required by awarding bodies for the delivery of their courses.
In terms of Health and Safety you will be responsible for ensuring that all workshops are compliant and safe as well maintaining up to date H&S legislation. You will work to improve and modernise H&S processes and practises and keep them in line with H&S regulations.
