As a Learning Manager you will work within a large curriculum area as well as having line management responsibilities for staff within this area. On occasions you may be asked to deputise for the Director of Learning and represent the Directorate at key meetings.
This role is key to the quality of the student experience and success and so you will work with personal tutors, college departments and Directors and Heads to deliver high levels of student satisfaction, success and progression. You will manage a group of staff including setting of objectives, managing performance, monitoring sickness absence, managing high levels of sickness absence and carrying out Personal Reviews and supporting personal development. Additionally, you will lead teaching and learning improvements and facilitate the sharing of good practise across your area.
We are looking for individuals who are highly self-motivated, energetic and driven, encompassing a strong sense of autonomy. You will possess strong presentation and communication skills and be able to demonstrate achievement of targets at a management level.
Key skills, responsibilities and attitudes
• Excellent understanding of curriculum subjects within the area
• Good practical and theoretical skills
• Use of Information Technology to support teaching and learning
• Understanding of leadership and management
• Knowledge of issues relating to equal opportunities and cultural diversity
• Currently teaching a related subject within the directorate with leadership experience
• Appropriate subject related degree (desired)
• Teaching qualification

• Excellent organisational skills
