Location: Stevenage And Working Across Group Sites In North Herts

We are looking for a Carpentry Technician to join our engineering and construction campus. This is a great opportunity to work for an organisation that can offer development. If you have an experience as a technician then this may be the job for you.

Job Purpose

To provide technical support to facilitate the teaching and learning within the carpentry department. Ensuring the maintenance of the workshops and equipment is up to required standard and assist in stock control of equipment and consumables.

Role And Responsibilities

Responsible for Risk assessments and COSHH control in designated areas.
Manage the stock control (this includes tools and equipment and materials in the area).
Manage the carpentry stores, to record all deliveries and maintain accurate records of carpentry orders, invoices and delivery notes.
Raise the orders of relevant materials and collect small items from local suppliers.
Ensure that the workshops, tools, equipment and stores are clean, tidy, safe and secure at all times.
Communicate information required to the Head of Curriculum to ensure effective technician support for the area.
Organise and prepare materials for carpentry activities.

Work as part of a team of technicians to ensure the ECC in a suitable and safe condition.
Work as part of a team of technicians to ensure the College meets its obligations and improves Health and Safety.
Contribute to student learning by supporting lecturers and students as appropriate.
Perform other duties as may be required consistent with the grade and responsibilities of the post.

Person Specification

Previous experience as a technician with in an carpentry environment.
Highly organised.
Effective communication skills.
Awareness of health and safety best practice.
Educated to Level 3 within a vocationally related area.
Proficient administration skills and attention to detail.
Able to work across all group sites with a flexible approach to work.
Knowledge of safeguarding.
