In this new role within College your work will be very varied and you will be pro-actively involved in co-ordinating and administering all of the College’s key HR processes – including staff selection, induction, probation, performance management, training and support arrangements.
The post-holder will report to and be supported by the Human Resources Manager, Miles McGennity. Although your role is primarily an administrative one it holds a high level of responsibility and it is important that you have a pro-active approach and the ability to establish or improve processes to provide the most effective and efficient service. You will be responsible for managing your own workload in this busy working environment, so excellent prioritisation and planning skills combined with a flexible approach are key in ensuring all demands are appropriately balanced.
The ability to communicate well with a wide variety of people is important. You will have the skills to be sensitive and supportive of individuals whilst fully appreciating the operational and strategic needs of the College and the responsibility we have to our students. You must be confident and accurate in working with computerised systems and you will need to have good-all round skills in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of software. Strong written and presentation skills combined with an eye for detail are particularly important in relation to the responsibility for preparing recruitment documentation.
The successful candidate will be appointed to Scale D of the College’s support staff pay spine, within the range £18,495 to £20,460 p.a, dependent on experience. There is the possibility of progression on to Scale E paid at £21,135 to £23,172 p.a. The contract will be on a permanent full-time, full year basis, starting as soon as the successful candidate is available.
Applications from new entrants to the HR profession are welcome, as well as from experienced professionals. However, your previous experience and/or training must clearly reflect your potential to work at the appropriate level and demonstrate your practical understanding of HR issues and your ability to carry out high level administrative tasks. Experience of the educational sector is desirable, but not essential.
This is a challenging yet rewarding role and will provide you with a great opportunity to gain experience of all aspects of HR and Recruitment within an educational establishment, whilst at the same time enabling you to play a key role in supporting the success of the College and its staff and students.
