The National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM), working alongside, and leading, England’s 35 Maths Hubs, aims to ensure that all teachers of mathematics, in all school and college phases, have access to high quality professional development opportunities so that pupils and students have the best chance of acquiring a deep and lasting understanding of maths.

This exciting new role will support the Director of Communications and other NCETM Directors by managing all aspects of materials production, ensuring that these are professionally produced in every respect, and that they support the teaching of maths in schools and colleges, and/or support the professional development of teachers of maths.
In this role, you will provide an important link between the maths-education specialists within the wider NCETM team and the Communications team.
You will also support the Editor of the Primary Mastery Professional Development Materials, and working closely with the NCETM’s Director for Secondary, you will help to prepare the ground for work to begin on similar materials aimed at secondary school teachers.
This role is initially funded until July 2019 with the possibility of extension beyond that date.
Our ideal candidate will either have extensive experience in the educational publishing world, with the capacity to pick up the specifics of maths education and/or substantial experience of maths education, with the ability to pick up the specific priorities and disciplines of educational publishing.
You will be a creative and analytical thinker with outstanding verbal, written and presentational communication skills. These attributes will be complemented by your strong organisational and attention to detail abilities, as well as your excellent IT skills, including high-level knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
You will have an understanding of the differences between resources aimed at pupils and those aimed at teachers along with familiarity with the policy landscape in the field of school maths education and, in particular, teaching for mastery.
You will bring experience of the following to the role:
• Creating and managing the use of resources by teachers and/or trainers
• Managing education projects involving multiple contributors, milestones and strict deadlines
• Expenditure profiling, budgeting and financial management
