The Brilliant Club is an award-winning and independently-evaluated charity that exists to increase the number of pupils from under-represented backgrounds who progress to highly-selective universities. We do this by mobilising the PhD community to share its expertise with state schools. We recruit, train and place PhD researchers to work with state schools: either part-time as tutors through The Scholars Programme or full-time as classroom teachers through Researchers in Schools (RIS). In 2016/17, The Brilliant Club will work with 500 state schools and 10,000 pupils across the UK, making it the largest university access programme for 11-18 year olds.
We are excited to be recruiting an EdTech and Impact Manager to join our sector-leading Research and Impact Department. The Brilliant Club has recently launched its new strategy, The Path to Outcomes, in which we have committed to delivering consistent and reliable outcomes for our pupils. This includes a pledge to support 6,500 pupils from under-represented backgrounds to progress to highly-selective universities by 2021.
This role will play a key part in supporting this strategy, with oversight of the charity’s virtual learning environment for pupils and our online Impact Toolkit for teachers. We have now completed the early-stage development for these platforms and are recruiting a manager to oversee their roll out and development. The role combines quantitative and technical knowledge, and project and relationship management skills. In particular, the role includes working with IT developers to ensure the platforms are engaging, accessible and well-maintained.
The role requires a driven and focused individual, with experience in managing the development of IT software. They will oversee the online platforms through which pupils and teachers will engage with The Brilliant Club. This will require them to collaborate across the charity, working with programme teams to ensure that the platforms fit with the needs of the programmes. They will also need to build partnerships outside the charity,
The successful candidate will be an experienced professional, with experience in one (or more) of the following areas: IT development projects; impact management; quantitative analysis. They will build positive, relationships across teams and with stakeholders, including IT developers and service users. They will manage projects effectively, co-ordinating activities, tracking progress and delivering results.
We think this is a great opportunity to join The Brilliant Club’s Research and Impact Department at a time when pupil outcomes are the front and centre of the charity’s strategy. As well as measuring and reporting on the charity’s impact, the Research and Impact Department is increasingly engaging with partners across the education sector, and building a reputation for excellence.
