Our academies are all located in and nearby London and are relatively close to one another. Just over eighty percent of the Harris secondary academies so far inspected by Ofsted have been rated as ‘Outstanding’, and our Progress 8 score across the group is 0.46. Our Core Subject Consultants have played a major part in our success.

We seek an outstanding Science practitioner who has a highly successful track record of raising achievement in order to drive further improvement across the Harris Federation. This post will involve working with our existing team of Science Consultant Leaders to build upon our success as the Federation grows.

The role will be multi-faceted and involve coaching and mentoring, sharing of best practice, developing robust improvement strategies, assisting Harris academies in recruitment and selection, helping to establish new departments or lead rapid recovery where required. The Federation operates a Teaching School as well as a number of highly successful CPD Networks. The post holder would have the opportunity to play a key role in this work.

The role of Science Consultant is an exciting post providing enormous scope for a talented and creative scientist to work alongside our established central team of Science Consultants. There will be many opportunities for future progression either in this role or subsequently in a leadership position within one of our academies. You will be an excellent teacher with a deep passion for your subject. You will possess management experience (ideally but not necessarily at Head of Department level or alternatively be an aspirant Leading Practitioner).

Although based at the Harris Federation offices close to East Croydon Station (with fast access to central London and the M25), the role will mostly be located within the academies.

Why work for the Harris Federation?

As a top performing Multi-Academy Trust, we offer access to a professional and supportive community of academies, fellow Principals and mentors to help develop and progress your career.

Harris is a federation and not a chain; each Harris academy is different, reflecting the particular aspirations and leadership style of its Principal. All of our primary and secondary academies are rated ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted and we are recognised for transforming the life chances of the children and teenagers we educate.

We look for talented individuals who want to be a part of transforming education in London, and helping create exceptional places of learning.

If you would like a discussion in confidence about the post, please call Sir Dan Moynihan, Chief Executive, on 020 8253 7777.

Harris Academies are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check. In line with our commitments to safeguarding, the Harris Federation uses preferred agencies and is unable to work with any agencies where Terms of Business have not been agreed by both parties prior to an engagement.
