Catering Assistant

Job Details
As a Catering Assistant, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of our catering facilities. From preparing and serving food to maintaining hygiene standards and supporting the wider Estates and Facilities team, your contribution will help create a welcoming and efficient dining experience for all.
This role is working Monday-Friday 8am-2pm (30 hours) in term time only (36 weeks per year). The actual salary is £16,129.54
What You’ll Be Doing
Preparing and serving food, snacks, and drinks
Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in kitchen and dining areas
Providing excellent customer service and responding to queries
Supporting food safety and hygiene practices at all times
Assisting with baking and food production
Reporting customer feedback to the Catering Manager
Working flexibly across college sites as needed
Supporting students on placement within the catering area
Essential Criteria:
A relevant Food Hygiene qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
Minimum Level 1 in Literacy and Numeracy
Experience in food preparation, cooking, and service
Previous customer service and cash handling experience
A friendly, professional manner and smart appearance
Good timekeeping and a methodical approach to work
Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively
Desirable:
NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a catering-related subject
Manual handling, health & safety, or first aid training
