Variable Hours Tutor of A Level English
Hours: part-time variable
Hourly rate: £25.25 (unqualified)* or £26.38 (qualified)* inclusive of holiday pay. You may also be eligible to claim a targeted retention incentive payment of up to £5,000**.

Plus, membership of Teachers’ Pension Scheme and financial support towards teacher training course fees if you do not have a recognised Level 5 teaching qualification (Cert Ed/PGCE) – worth up to £7,000 over two years.
*the base hourly rate is £16.29 (unqualified) / £17.02 (qualified) per hour, plus payment for holiday and preparation and marking time, which gives an approximate hourly rate of £25.25 (unqualified) / £26.38 (qualified) per hour.
About the role
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Tutor of English Language, Language/Literature and/or Literature to join an experienced and successful team delivering A level provision. We currently offer Edexcel/Pearson English Lang/Lit and English Literature and AQA English Language A level courses. You should be able to contribute to any of these courses.

About the person
You should have up to date knowledge of teaching and learning methodologies, be able to engage positively with students and prepare interesting and focused lessons which allow students opportunities to explore a range of approaches to the texts/material studied, whilst meeting the demands of the exam board.
A degree in English Language and/or Literature (or with some element of these included) is ideal but we would be keen to discuss the post with anyone who feels they may have suitable experience.
You will work independently but also collaboratively with others, and have good interpersonal skills, and be empathetic to the difficulties faced by A level students. Good IT skills and the ability to work with a wide range of different College systems would be a benefit, as would a willingness to produce and adapt teaching resources.

We are a large, regional college serving a population across York and North Yorkshire of more one million people. Each year, we have approximately 4,000 school leavers, 1,000 apprentices, 2,000 adult students, and 400 higher-level students studying with us.
Our wide range of education options span entry level programmes through to degrees, higher technical qualifications, and accredited professional courses to courses for professional development. Our apprenticeships can be studied from level 2 to level 5 across a range of different career pathways.
