Location: The Corby Sixth Form
Salary/Benefits: Salary from £31,000 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, Teachers pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 22 hrs (0.6), 3 days a week with some flexibility on the days
Contract Type: Permanent – Part Time
About the role:
We are currently seeking Teacher in Geography to join our Sixth Forms department at The Bedford College group.
As a teacher, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Helping students develop their skills and reach their maximum potential through the delivery of courses and contributing to the development of Sixth Form curriculum and student experience.
- Undertaking an agreed teaching commitment that develops students’ knowledge, skills and understanding.
- Enthusing, engaging and motivating students to learn and foster their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
- Planning, preparing and delivering a range of lessons maintaining a high-quality learning environment.
- Providing timely assessments, appropriate feedback and recording of students’ progress, development and attainment in order that students understand how to improve their learning.
- Contributing to the achievement of retention and success targets for courses that you teach.
- Being pro-active and involved in curriculum development within the department.
- Participating in arrangements for performance review and staff development activities and events.
- Organising subject related extracurricular activities, such as external speakers, trips and visits.
- Applying and maintaining Health and Safety guidelines across the department.
- Being responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and for raising any concerns in line with college procedures.
- Being responsible for promoting equality and diversity in line with college procedures.
- Being responsible for following health and safety requirements in line with college policy and procedures.
- Participating proactively in training and development including qualification development required in the job role.
About you:
- Hold a degree in a relevant subject
- Hold a certificate in Education or equivalent in line with the Statutory Instrument
- Have current experience of teaching A Level
- Have experience of teaching in a Sixth Form or FE College environment with students 16 – 18-year-olds
- Possess the ability to consistently provide high quality teaching and outstanding learning experience for all students
- Possess the ability consistently to create to a welcoming and supportive environment for students and/or customers
- Possess the ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children, young people and vulnerable adults
- Be willing to continuously to update skills and knowledge

The Corby Sixth Form offers a wide range of subjects and courses, including A-level subjects like maths, English Literature, sciences, humanities, and languages, as well as Diploma courses in areas like business, health & social care, and more.
