Chief Finance Officer
This is a unique opportunity to join the soon to be formed City of Portsmouth College following the merger of Highbury College Portsmouth and Portsmouth College, set for July 2021. This merger will bring together two complementary organisations, committed to delivering an outstanding student experience, set against an agenda of inclusivity that is dedicated to driving social and economic prosperity both regionally and nationally. To support this agenda, the college is seeking to appoint an experienced finance leader with the energy, passion, and knowledge to ensure the organisation continues to thrive and produce inspirational learning that delivers employability.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will lead the financial strategy and ensure the financial integrity of the new college through enhanced business planning, financial control and reporting to maximise efficiencies and opportunities for growth. You will provide day-to-day leadership for the finance, IT, HR and estates functions, with a keen focus on capital expenditure, risk management and compliance, along with the analysis of key management information to maintain the financial sustainability of the college at this important time of change.
You will be a qualified, commercially orientated accountant with a wealth of strategic change management experience, ideally gained within a highly complex, customer centric, multi-stakeholder environment. With strong technical knowledge, you will have excellent analytical and planning skills and be fully conversant with complex funding/revenue streams and capital investment initiatives. You must possess excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with the capacity to engage at all levels across and beyond the organisation, to solve complex strategic challenges through deliverable and workable business solutions.
