Role: Catering Assistant

Location: The Bedford Sixth Form

Salary/Benefits: Minimum Wage, Pro Rata – DOE and Qualifications. Full training to be provided.

Hours/Weeks: 20hrs per week

Contract Type: Fixed Term – Term Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Catering Assistant to join The Bedford College Group atThe Bedford Sixth Form.

As a Catering Assistant you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Providing support and assistance to customers and other staff members.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of the kitchen and Restaurant facilities and ensure serviceability and security of tools and equipment, and ensure Health and Safety requirements are met.
  • Presenting a professional image to all customers and presentation and serving of food to an agreed standard.

About you:

  • Knowledge of collecting monies through a cash register & PDQ machine
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent
  • Experience in customer care
  • IT skills Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Allergen training
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures in catering environment
  • Knowledge of food preparation and cooking skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment.
  • Ability to multitask
  • Access to own transport, with the ability to travel to events and various sites

The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
