Main Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Provide impartial, confidential and individualised advice and careers guidance to all members of the College community and to prospective learners, using pre-booked interviews, ‘drop-ins’, planned events, telephone calls and email and responding to referrals and requests for IAG from other College services such as student financial support and personal tutors. As part of this role it is essential that the post holder be able to work independently when required ensuring the smooth day to day operations of guidance services.
2. Record activities as directed and complete student notes as required, in order to ensure that data collection and management systems are used appropriately to enable the accurate and timely reporting on activities undertaken.
3. Work with other MidKent College staff, including the Personal Development Tutorial Team and curriculum staff, to deliver appropriate group guidance that will inform and advise learners on specific subjects and contribute to the planning of career development learning resources and activities.
4. Support and maintain the development of effective links with business, industry and professional associations as part of professional updating and as a means of providing contacts and labour market information.
5. Provide advice and guidance to colleagues in respect of new developments and legislation in the areas of Careers Information, Advice and Guidance, in order to ensure high quality careers education, information, advice and guidance.
6. Work with associated college services such as ALS, student finance and admissions, and signpost and link to these services where appropriate.
7. Assist students with work skills and preparation for job seeking including job research, CV development and presentation, completion of applications and mock interviews.
8. Provide support for students undertaking the UCAS university application process.
9. Committed to ensuring that all departmental internal advertising and promotional platforms are up to date and relevant
All staff are required to:
- Staff must complete mandatory annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in accordance with the number of hours set for their Department.
- Travel between sites as and when required in accordance with their job role.
- Evening and weekend work may be required to meet the needs of the service
- Comply with and understand all aspects of legislation and College policies and processes relating to safeguarding, including promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
- Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.
- Comply with, understand and promote statutory and college best practice in Health & Safety at a level relevant to the role and responsibilities held by the post holder.

- During the course of your duties, you may acquire or have access to confidential information which should not be disclosed to any other person unless in pursuit of your duties in compliance with GDPR or with the specific permission given on behalf of the College.
- Actively take responsibility for their personal learning and development (informal and formal) reviewing and reflecting on their performance within their current role.
- Promote, adhere to, understand and put into practice all college policies and procedures.
