Main Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Manage the day-to-day operation of designated commercial refectory sites, including responsibility for ordering stock within an agreed annual budget, maintaining a high level of customer service and satisfaction for students and staff.
2. Maintaining and developing a calendar of wider venue hire and event bookings, including hospitality packages, managing staff rotas to effectively delegate jobs and responsibilities to refectory and/ or event support staff, in order to maximize profitability, minimise legal liability, and conform to alcoholic beverage regulations.
3. Manage a designated team of staff within the refectories, undertaking recruitment, selection, absence management and 1-2-1 meetings, taking responsibility for allocation of duties, training, managing and monitoring individual and team workloads, discipline, development, time keeping, approval of annual leave etc., and the cost effective use of overtime and time off in lieu for staff, ensuring full compliance with relevant College policies and procedures at all times.
4. Organise and oversee regular training of all refectory staff concerning the menu, customer service; supporting the delivery of relevant training in the workplace and the College, including the delivery of workshops as required.
5. Positively market designated commercial services by planning and implementing promotional and seasonal offers, working to set targets and incentives to increase turnover and profitability of commercial venue hire across the Maidstone & UCM buildings.
6. Maintain and update online and offline marketing and other promotional activities for the Commercial area.
7. Deal with customer complaints in keeping within the College’s customer service ethos and methods.
All staff are required to:
- Staff must complete mandatory annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in accordance with the number of hours set for their Department.
- Travel between sites as and when required in accordance with their job role.
- Evening and weekend work may be required to meet the needs of the service
- Comply with and understand all aspects of legislation and College policies and processes relating to safeguarding, including promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
- Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.
- Comply with, understand and promote statutory and college best practice in Health & Safety at a level relevant to the role and responsibilities held by the post holder.
