Contract Term/Status: Term time only – 38 Weeks per year/Permanent
Salary: £11,017.00 – £12,400.00 pro rata based on full time equivalent of £13,588.00 – £15,293.00 per annum

Calderdale College is looking to recruit a Communications Support Worker (British Sign Language (BSL) Support Worker) who will assist learners in achieving their primary learning goals by providing them with learning support in the form of a communicator. This will involve translating written English to BSL, transcribing and differentiating while acting as an in class facilitator.
Working closely with the learners you must contribute to the development of the learners support plan and facilitate the learners learning under the direction of the class tutor.
You must have an understanding and awareness of the needs of deaf and hard of hearing people including their culture, education and employment. Having the ability to communicate at all levels and demonstrating a good standard of written and spoken English is essential. You must have exceptional organisational skills, interpersonal skills and be a supportive and co-operative team player. A Level 3 qualification in British Sign Language is an essential requirement of the role.
