We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of English to join our close-knit team. The successful candidate will lead, manage and develop the department, maximising student achievement and progress through a creative, relevant and challenging curriculum. You will join an English department which consists of a team of subject specialists.
As a department we are well resourced, we follow the AQA exam board for both English Language and Literature, specialising in these subjects at KS3 and KS4. We have a dedicated corridor with seven classrooms, equipped with View Sonic boards and three suites of laptops/chrome books available for student use. Our curriculum is broad, balanced and align seamlessly with our schemes of learning, we use a mix of modern, literary heritage, and brand-new texts, ensuring that our students have access to the most current and engaging resources, which challenges them to develop not only their literacy and oracy skills, but their thinking, analytical and problem solving approaches too. We have an online shared area for teachers to use for their planning, where resources and lessons are regularly shared and use Google Classroom to communicate with students, set homework, and provide revision materials.
We take pride in providing regular opportunities for extracurricular enrichment, including engaging trips to the world-renowned Globe theatre, meeting and working with authors, and working with in-house theatre companies who deliver workshops that support our teaching.
