The Lecturer in Brickwork Role
The UK, and our area of Dorset, has a pressing need for skilled Lecturers in Brickwork to build and refurbish the buildings our society needs in order to house our people and enable safe, secure, and enjoyable lives. A local workforce, trained to install sustainable technology and use modern methods of construction, will contribute to lowering the environmental impact of construction.
Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Brickwork will include:
- Delivering the curriculum by using a variety of teaching methods in order to ensure effective learning
- Course tutor responsibilities
- Ensuring that employability and employer engagement activities are embedded into the programmes
- Supporting community/personal enrichment activities (including trips related to learning)
- Preparation of schemes of learning, lesson plans, assignment schedules, learning materials and student assignments
- Marking of students’ work with developmental feedback
- Reporting student progress
- Participating in curriculum development activities
- Participating in the recruitment of students and the student admissions process
- Representing of the College at internal and external events and meetings
- Participating in all aspects of The College’s quality process
- Internal verification
- Continually maintaining, undertaking and meeting any relevant CPD requirements
- Liaising with parents/guardians
- General administration relevant to the role

As our Lecturer in Brickwork, you will need:
- Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths or willing to work towards within an agreed timeframe
- Willingness to undertake Internal Quality Assurance award and Assessors award
- Level 2 or Craft certificate in Brickwork
- Experience in knowledge of current practice in field(s) of expertise
- Experience in Health & Safety in use of Construction industry equipment
- 5 years industry experience in Brickwork
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications
- Can analyse and solve problems
- Interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Able to work under their own initiative
