Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we are looking to recruit a new Engineering Skills Attendance Support on a full-time, term-time only (TTO) basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £20,195-£21,554 per annum pro-rata (£24,818 -£26,487 per annum FTE).

The Engineering Skills Attendance Support Role:

 As an Engineering Skills Attendance Support, youwill be working with students to manage student attendance and ensure that students are in class when they are supposed to be, tracking absences and liaising with tutors, parents, and carers.

 

Responsibilities as our Engineering Skills Attendance Support will include:

  • Developing a relationship with the students, providing a trusted friendly point of contact, to promote a healthy transition from school to college whilst ensuring students develop personally and socially.
  • Monitoring daily attendance and working closely with the teaching team to monitor and ensure excellent attendance of students within their cohort. and liaising with parents and carers where necessary.
  • Reporting regularly to the Learning Manager on students who are a cause for concern. Working alongside the teaching team to ensure all student needs are being fulfilled, and signposting towards relevant support as required.
  • Maintaining and updating student records systems to facilitate communication and the reporting of data.
  • Liaising between student/LMs/subject teacher/student support/ parents or carers.
  • Supporting students through their preparation for progression.
  • Managing the performance by communicating with and arranging meetings with parents/carers as required.
  • Taking appropriate responsibility to ensure the health and safety of self and others, and to recognise when referrals to student wellbeing need to be escalated.
  • Being aware of and responding to student individual needs. Where additional intervention is required, students will be referred to appropriate Student Inclusion and Support services.

As our Engineering Skills Attendance Support, you’ll ideally have:

  • Level 2 qualification as a minimum
  • English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Proven track record of success in supporting young people
  • Ability to work with young people, parents/carers and colleagues, as appropriate
  • Experience of working with young people with social emotional and mental health differences
  • Work experience in an FE setting i.e. college or school
  • Proven track record of success in supporting young people
  • Ability to work with young people, parents/carers and colleagues, as appropriate
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of post-16 education and training
  • The effective use of information and learning technologies in the classroom Safeguarding Children and Young People and Vulnerable Adults
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
